68th AFA Council Meeting

The meeting gets underway

The Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) played host to the 68th AFA Council Meeting. The meeting was held in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, from May 12 to 13. Representatives from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam were in attendance.

Various issues were raised at the meeting. One related to amending "Section 4: Quorum" of "Article II. The Council and its Meetings" to "Attendance shall be based on country representation-requiring at least 50% of all the Primary Members to constitute a Quorum". The Council also considered the proposal to admit Laos and Cambodia as primary members of AFA.

MIA also hosted a dinner for the AFA delegates on May 12. The guest of honor was Yb Datuk Raymond Tan. A Lecture, which was attended by the AFA delegates, was also organized by MIA.
