83rd AFA Council Meeting

The 83rd AFA Council Meeting hosted by The Indonesia Institute of Accountants (IAI) was held on May 7, 2005 at Niko Hotel, Jakata, Indonesia There were representatives from Brunei, Indonesia, Lao, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Philippine, Vietnam, UK in attendance. Apologises were sent by Kambodia and Australia for not being able to attend the meeting.

As Dr Dang Van Thanh, AFA President could not attend the meeting, Mr Ahmadi Hadibroto, AFA Vice President, President of IAI, chaired the meeting. The meeting was started with a welcome note and calling to order from Mr Ahmadi. On behalf of AFA Council, he expressed his appreciation to all delegates for their attendence at the meeting. After that Mr Ahmadi confirmed the agenda of the meeting with all delegates. Followed by the approval of the 82nd AFA Council Meeting 's minutes, with the agreement from all members of the Council at the meeting, the minutes was confirmed as the correct record accordingly.

Various issues were discussed during the meeting. The main issues discussed were AFA as a regional Body of IFAC, ASEAN Framework Agreement on Services(AFAS) andMutual Recognition Agreement (MRA), Report from VAA on preparation for the 14th AFA Conference. Before ending the meeting member bodies spent time on exchanging information on the development of the status of accountancy profession in each country

The meeting ended with a vote of thanks to the President, Deputy President and the host of the AFA Council Meeting.
